This time of year, I always start to feel a bit burnt out. Either run down, or just carrying the stress from the year that’s just gone. I always look to January as a chance to slow things down a bit and properly recharge.

I’ve put together 11 spas to visit in 2026 that I’ve personally experienced, from peaceful spots up in Loch Lomond to calm little escapes in Bath. Every one of these felt special in its own way, whether it was a full countryside reset or a proper luxury treat.

We spent four nights in Salzburg and it ended up being one of the most magical Christmas trips I have taken in years. Snowy streets, warming food, beautiful markets and that lovely feeling you only get at Christmas. It really did feel like stepping into a Christmas card. 🎄✨

If you are planning a festive break, here are a few things that made it so special.

⭐ The Christmas markets
Salzburg has some of the prettiest in Europe. Christkindlmarkt is the big one with choirs and cathedral views, Mirabellplatz feels local and cosy and Hellbrunn Advent Magic is full of lights and Christmas trees. We also found some lovely decorations and gifts to bring home.

⭐ The views
Take the lift up to Museum der Moderne for amazing views over the rooftops. If you are lucky with snow it looks beautiful from above.

⭐ Festive food
Think Glühwein, pretzels, roasted chestnuts, warm sausage dishes and Austrian classics like Käsespätzle. We tried as much as we could and it all felt perfect for cold winter days.

⭐ Moments that felt special
Waking up to snow, visiting the Christmas Museum, learning about local traditions like Krampus and seeing Sound of Music filming spots. It all added something extra to the trip.

⭐ Where we stayed
We stayed at Hotel Sacher which felt elegant and warm at Christmas. Our suite overlooked the river and was such a lovely place to come back to after the cold. The service was impeccable and the amenities smelt amazing!

✈️ Getting there
Salzburg is under two hours from London Gatwick.

I spent the whole day wandering between the different displays and managed to see everything in one go, so if you’re planning a festive day out, or on a festive break in the city you can easily fit all of these in. ✨ Christmas in Salzburg, only two hours from the UK.

Luke and I brought our mums for this festive trip and we loved how magical and traditional it felt. We have wanted to make these memories with our family for such a long time and it is one we will remember forever.

The perfect UK winter walk ❄️

If you’re looking for a beautiful and accessible walk this winter, Aber Falls is one of my favourites. The trail leads through stunning Welsh countryside before opening up to an incredible 120-foot waterfall — and it’s just as magical in winter.

It’s an easy, family-friendly route that takes about an hour to reach the base of the falls. Parking is £5 (cash only) at the main car park, and there are public toilets on site too.

It’s one of the best short walks in Wales and a must for any UK bucket list. 💦
