Because I’ve just been… and it might be the most extraordinary theme park I’ve ever experienced.

This was actually my twelfth time visiting Universal Orlando with Luke, a place that’s been a big part of our travel story over the years. But this visit was different.
We were honoured to have been invited by @britishairwaysholidays and @universalorlando to experience Epic Universe, the first new theme park to open in Orlando in over 25 years.

And it’s not just a park… it’s five immersive worlds, each one like stepping into a different story.

I’ve wanted to visit this spot for years, and I finally made the walk. The path was surprisingly easy, leading to a place of real natural beauty.

With stunning crystal-clear waters and mountain views, it’s a spot that truly takes your breath away. And yes, you can swim in the pools it’s a perfect spot for wild swimming.

If you’re planning a trip to the Lake District, this is one to add to your list.

* 📍 Parking: Gates Garth Farm Car Park (CA13 9XA) – £4 for 24 hours (cash only).
* 🥾 Walk Length: Approximately 1.3 km (0.8 miles) each way, apx 20 minutes to the first infinity pool but you can continue the trail further to see more.
* 🌿 Trail Info: Well-defined gravel path with a gentle incline, suitable for most fitness levels.
* 💦 Highlights: Beautifully clear waterfalls and panoramic views back down through the mountains to Buttermere Lake.

 I wasn’t expecting to love it this much, but between the pink skies at dinner and reading Persuasion in bed with the sea outside the window, this little corner of the UK completely won me over.

Here are the things I’d recommend doing in this historic seaside town full of fossil-filled beaches, sea views, and literary history:

🏡 Stay with @lymeregisstays  We stayed at Austen’s Garret, a boutique holiday let with dreamy views over the rooftops and out to sea. It’s named after Jane Austen, who set part of Persuasion in this town and is believed to have stayed in this very building.

🌊 Walk The Cobb The same seawall featured in Persuasion, a must for Austen fans and anyone who loves a dramatic coastline.

🪨 Explore Charmouth & the South West Coast Path Part of the Jurassic Coast and perfect for a slow seaside walk with incredible scenery.

🦕 Spot fossils at Monmouth Beach Fossils from millions of years ago are just lying in the rock. You can literally see history beneath your feet.

🥐 Brunch at Town Mill Bakery Tucked in Lyme’s artisan quarter with sourdough, pastries and locally roasted coffee.

☕ Grab coffee at Kiosk and drink it on the beach Super casual, super local. One of my favourite slow moments.

🏛️ Visit Lyme Regis Museum Full of stories, fossils and Jane Austen history. A lovely little stop just off the seafront.

🌿 Wander through Langmoor and Lister Gardens Gorgeous views across the bay and the perfect place for a quiet moment away from the crowds.

📚 Find the Jane Austen Garden A peaceful tribute overlooking the sea. Ideal for a thoughtful pause or a photo with your copy of Persuasion.

🔥 Try the beach sauna We didn’t get to this, but it’s a great way to warm up and see the coast after a dip in the sea.

And in 2025, Lyme Regis will celebrate 250 years of Jane Austen, so if you’ve ever wanted to visit, now’s the time.

Is this the most beautiful hotel lobby you’ve seen?! 😍

On a recent trip we popped into this famous hotel one evening for a drink, mainly so we could get a proper look at the famous lobby 😍

At night, the ceiling becomes a sky full of stars, it’s even more magical in person.

During the day, it shows clouds instead, which honestly makes me want to go back just to see both.

We weren’t there long, but it’s one of those places that stays with you.

Once gifted by William the Conqueror to his Queen, this timeless village clings to a 400-foot cliff, offering sweeping coastal views and centuries of charm.

Listed in the Domesday Book, the village remains under private ownership, which has helped preserve its cobbled, traffic-free streets. Goods are still transported by wooden sledges, and donkeys remain a symbol of village life.

Wander romantic lanes, explore the working harbour and 14th-century quay, and uncover these highlights (all included in your entry fee):

— The Donkeys
Once the village’s main form of transport, they now live a peaceful life, with sledges doing the heavy lifting.

— Fisherman’s Cottage
Step into the 1930s in this fully furnished home, capturing daily life from a simpler time.

— Kingsley Museum
Celebrating Victorian author Charles Kingsley, who lived here and popularised the village with Westward Ho!.

— Beach Waterfall
