Behind the blog

How it all started

My love for travel started long before social media.

As a child, I was always drawn to beautiful places. I used to sketch landscapes I’d seen or imagined, completely fascinated by how different the world could look. But it wasn’t until I was 19, when I saved everything I could for a round-the-world trip to Indonesia, Australia and Singapore, that something really clicked.

That trip changed everything. It gave me a deep appreciation for new places, cultures and experiences and from that point on,

I always knew travel would be a huge part of my life.

Why I do this

Because travel should feel like more
than just a place on a map

I didn’t realise how much travel could change how you feel about life until I experienced it myself.
And that’s what everything I share now comes back to.
For me, it’s never just been about ticking places off a list. It’s the feeling of discovering somewhere unexpected, slowing down, or finding somewhere that stays with you long after you’ve left.
That’s what I want you to feel when you see somewhere I share.

FAQ

I’ve been lucky enough to travel to some incredible places, but there are a few that have really stayed with me.

Japan was always a dream of mine, and finally seeing it in real life completely lived up to everything I imagined. There’s something about the contrast between tradition and modern life that just stays with you.

The UK will always be one of my favourites though. I think people really underestimate it, but I’ve found so many places here that feel like they shouldn’t even exist. Hidden villages, coastal walks, countryside stays… it constantly surprises me.

Portugal is somewhere I keep going back to for that laid back, sunny escape, and then the Maldives is on a completely different level. That feeling of being surrounded by nothing but clear water and nature is something I’ll never get over.

Every place I love tends to give me a different feeling, and that’s what I’m always chasing when I travel

I’ve always been a bit strategic when it comes to flying, so most of the time you’ll find me on British Airways. I collect Avios points through my Amex card which means a lot of my trips end up being upgraded or made possible through points and companion vouchers.

That said, I’ve had some amazing experiences with other airlines too. Finnair I thought were excellent, ANA completely blew me away when I visited Japan and Emirates is always a treat when I want that extra level of comfort.

If I’m honest, I don’t just pick flights based on price anymore, I choose what makes the whole journey feel part of the trip.

I’ve been creating content for around six years now on my social media channels, but blogging is something I’ve properly focused on over the last year.

For a long time, I was sharing quick moments on social media, but I realised I wanted somewhere I could slow things down a bit and really tell the full story behind the places I visit.

My blog is where I can give you everything I wish I had before a trip, from hidden gems to honest recommendations, not just the highlight reel.

I get asked this a lot and honestly, it didn’t happen overnight.

When I first started travelling, I was visiting the same places everyone else was. But over time, I started looking a bit deeper, saving places, researching properly and trusting my own instinct on what felt special.

Now, it’s a mix of experience, curiosity and knowing what to look for. I’m always searching for places that feel a bit different, whether that’s somewhere peaceful, nostalgic, or just somewhere that makes you stop for a second.

That’s also exactly why I created my blog. It’s where I share the full stories and details behind the places you see on my Instagram, so you can actually experience them for yourself.

If you’re planning a trip and need ideas, you can explore all the destinations on my blog here.

Some of my favourite work has come from collaborating with brands and destinations I genuinely love, creating content that feels inspiring, story-led and actually useful for my UK audience.

If you’d like to work together, whether that’s a campaign, content creation, or something more long term, you can find all the details on my Work With Me page.

Or feel free to drop me an email and we can chat ideas properly amy@amyenvoyage.com
