2. Eden Hall Day Spa
Nottinghamshire, England

Eden Hall is one of my favourite places for a relaxing spa day in Nottinghamshire. Set within a beautiful Victorian country house, it’s a dedicated day spa with an impressive Spa Garden, outdoor hot tubs and plenty of thermal experiences to explore.
We started our day with a swim in the infinity pool followed by breakfast at The Vinery, which has a lovely botanical feel. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor hot tubs and salt inhalation room before heading for a three-course lunch at The Taste of Eden.
One of my favourite parts of the day was my ELEMIS facial, which combined advanced skincare technology with traditional facial techniques. I loved how my therapist explained each stage, particularly the oxygen treatment and facial massage, and my skin felt amazing afterwards. Eden Hall continues to offer ELEMIS BIOTEC facials, including treatments using ultrasonic exfoliation, LED light therapy and microcurrent technology, so they’re well worth looking into if you fancy something beyond a traditional facial.

7. The Spa at Bedford Lodge Hotel
Suffolk, England

I visited Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa in Suffolk with my mum and sister for a special birthday celebration, and it’s a brilliant option for a more intimate spa day. Housed in a beautifully restored Victorian building separate from the hotel, this award-winning spa has a hydrotherapy pool and an outdoor rooftop hot tub overlooking Newmarket’s famous racing paddocks.
The hydrotherapy pool has five different water experiences, including massage jets and bubbling stations, while the rooftop hot tub was one of my favourite parts. I visited with my mum and sister for a special occasion, and it was such a lovely place to relax and spend quality time together. There’s also a private Rasul mud experience and cosy relaxation areas.
With a choice of spa-day packages, including options with lunch and ESPA treatments, I’d particularly recommend Bedford Lodge for a special occasion or a relaxing catch-up with family or friends, without the busier feel of a larger spa resort.
Spa facilities include: Hydrotherapy pool with five water experiences, outdoor rooftop hot tub, sauna, steam room, experiential showers, ice fountain, relaxation room, spa mezzanine and private Rasul experience.
Treatments offered: ESPA massages, personalised facials, body treatments, Rasul mud rituals, manicures and pedicures.
Best for: A peaceful, boutique spa day in Suffolk, particularly for couples or friends who enjoy hydrotherapy, treatments and a more intimate atmosphere.
Getting here: Located in Newmarket, Suffolk, around 25 minutes’ drive from Cambridge. On-site parking is available.
Fancy staying overnight? Bedford Lodge also offers spa breaks combining accommodation with spa access and treatments.
How to choose the right spa day in England
Choosing the right spa day really comes down to the kind of experience you’re looking for. If you love having lots of facilities to explore, I’d recommend somewhere like Hoar Cross Hall or Carden Park, where you can easily spend an entire day enjoying the pools, saunas and relaxation areas.
For something smaller and more peaceful, The Spa at Breedon Priory is a lovely choice, while Manor House Hotel & Spa is perfect if you prefer a more sociable atmosphere with outdoor pools and swim-up bars.
If treatments are your priority, Eden Hall is somewhere I’d recommend looking into, particularly for its advanced ELEMIS facials. And for a special occasion with family or friends, I loved the more intimate atmosphere at Bedford Lodge.
My tip: Always check exactly what’s included in your spa-day package before booking. Some include treatments, lunch and full access to the facilities, while others offer shorter sessions or charge extra for certain areas.
