The most famous pub in the city and a must for first-timers. Yes, it’s busy, but the atmosphere is unbeatable with live Irish music, great Guinness and walls lined with old photographs. Pop in for a pint and soak up the energy, then explore the cobbled lanes around Temple Bar afterwards.

3. Fleet Street

Full of colour, neon lights and charm, Fleet Street is one of Dublin’s most photogenic areas. It comes alive in the evening when the city starts to glow. Walk it slowly and take in the mix of traditional pubs, street musicians and modern buzz.

4. Dublin Castle and Gardens

This traditional Victorian pub on Baggot Street is full of charm and local character. Sit among dark wood interiors and enjoy hearty Irish dishes – the sausage and mash here was one of my favourites of the trip. It’s a great place to stop for lunch or unwind in the evening.

10. St Stephen’s Green Park

Right in the city centre, St Stephen’s Green is a peaceful escape filled with flowers, fountains and winding paths. It’s especially pretty in spring and autumn. Sit by the lake with a coffee, watch the swans glide past and take a moment to slow down before heading back into the bustle.

11. Oscar Wilde Monument

In Merrion Square Park, you’ll find a colourful statue of Oscar Wilde lounging on a rock with his trademark wit and charm captured perfectly. The quotes around the monument are brilliant to read, and the Georgian houses nearby make this one of the prettiest corners of Dublin.
