So, if you’re looking for epic adventures, stunning views, and delicious food, here are five amazing places to visit in Florida that completely stole my heart and feel like real hidden gems.

I’ve always believed Florida is more than just theme parks. Don’t get me wrong—I love an adrenaline-pumping roller coaster, but some of the best experiences in Florida happen away from the crowds.

📅 September – NovemberCheaper rates & less crowded, but hurricane risk peaks in September.
📅 December – February → Cool & great for theme parks + holiday lights.

1. Ocala – A Hidden Adventure Haven

When I say Ocala surprised me, I mean it. If you love the outdoors, thrilling activities, or even just a relaxing nature retreat, this place is for you. From crystal-clear springs with turtle and manatee spotting to thrilling zip-lines.

🛣 Best Route: Take I-75 N for a direct drive into Ocala.

✔️ Canyons Zip Line & Adventure Park – I never imagined flying over canyons and lakes in Florida, but here we are! The longest zipline in the state.
✔️ Rainbow River Kayaking – Picture crystal-clear waters, turtles swimming alongside you, and total serenity. It’s unreal.
✔️ Silver Springs Glass-Bottom Boat Tours – You don’t even have to get wet to see the magic underwater! A real unique, old-school Florida experience.
✔️ The World Equestrian Center – Whether or not you’re into horses, this place is gorgeous. A five-star resort & equestrian paradise all in one.

2. Anna Maria Island – The Peaceful Beach Escape

If you’re craving a place that doesn’t feel overly touristy, Anna Maria Island checks ALL the boxes. No high rises, no chaos—just gorgeous beaches and island vibes.

✔️ AMI Dolphin Tour – We saw not just dolphins, but a baby manatee playing in the marina! One of the CUTEST moments of my life.

✔️ Pine Avenue & Historic Bridge Street – Adorable boutiques, good coffee, and an iconic “jail” photo op (trust me, you’ll want this pic).

🏡 Stay: Hidden Cove (Holmes Beach)—this 2-bedroom beach-facing rental was a dream. Waking up to the waves = perfection.
🍽 Eat: La Creperie for a French-inspired breakfast, Shore LBK if you love waterfront seafood (arrive by boat if you can!).

💡 Tip: Rent a Beach Suite cabana with Beach Suites AMI—they set up games, towels, sunscreen, even a speaker so you can literally just show up and relax.

Okay, how many destinations let you watch an actual rocket launch while also having epic beaches & surfing?

✔️ Cocoa Beach – Home of Ron Jon Surf Shop, great waves & laid-back beach bars.
✔️ Brevard Zoo Kayaking – YES, you can kayak through an animal exhibit. It’s the coolest zoo experience I’ve had.
